Assembly

Finally after having the frame painted I could start the final assembly.

I decided to fit the rear drive and wheel first working from the back of the bike to the front.

The white rings on the frame is masking tape. I found that hot water pipe insulation makes for perfect paint protection material when slit down the middle.

I also fitted the center stand and the foot pegs

After fitting the rear drive and wheel I fitted the engine and put the seat on. The seat could have waited untill last but I just wanted to see that on. I also fitted the exhaust pipe which can just be seen through the wheel spokes

A front view after fitting the engine. The finned exhaust nut and the deep oil pan are not original

Next I fitted up the gearbox. A lot of care must b e taken if you don't want to damage the new paint work on the frame.

I then fitted the front forks. I found that to be one of the most difficult. I just had a hard time getting everything to line up properly. I had to take the forks off several times to get the fork alignment correct.

The front wheel hub and wheel

Front end assembled with friction damper and head light

Rear view of the bike assembled without the fuel tank and front and rear fender. Also I still hadn't installed the cardon shaft.

Head light with instruments and handle bars

 Seat spring assembly

 Break linkage and break switch

I've actually gotten further with the rebuild I just haven't taken the pictures.

I have fished the front fender and fitted it, but I haven't finished the tank nor the rear fender yet.

I know I'm slow!!!!!

I made up a small axillary tank so that I could test the motor and have been riding it around.
